First Sundays for Families

Frolic and Paint Party

Grab a brush and celebrate the tradition of painting outdoors – en plein air –  with demonstrations by members of the Philadelphia Water Color Society and a creative circus performance and Brandywine River crossing on a tightwire by the Funicular Circus. Teaching artists will lead art-making activities for all ages.


Program

10 a.m.–1 p.m.
Artists from the Philadelphia Water Color Society will be painting en plein air on the museum’s campus.

11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Art activities with teaching artists, including outdoor sketching on the riverbank, fun with magic painting and a group mural recreation of George Weymouth’s popular painting, August.

12 p.m.
Funicular Circus performance

1:30 p.m.

1 p.m. 
Dancers from BalletX will present a lively and imaginative “Pop Up” performance. BalletX is Philadelphia’s premier contemporary ballet company.


First Sundays for Families at the Museum presents free, hands-on workshops designed to engage visitors of all ages in creative art activities and performances. No registration necessary.
