Music on the Brandywine: Englewinds
Englewinds, an award-winning Eco-Music classical ensemble, addresses issues such as overbuilding of wetlands, noise pollution, the need for clean drinking water worldwide, increasing turtle habitat, milkweed planting for Monarch butterflies, building bee boxes on trees for honeybees, maintaining parklands and more.
Englewinds commissions and performs music by living composers, and specializes in music that creates environmental awareness. The ensemble has received commendation from the State of New Jersey Legislature and the Bergen County Freeholders (NJ) for its eco-music programs that have promoted environmental change in the state. Englewinds members are some of NYC’s finest musicians; they perform at Lincoln Center with the New York Philharmonic, Mostly Mozart, American Classical Orchestra, American Ballet Theater and New York City Opera, on Broadway with Phantom of the Opera and other productions, with Liza Minnelli, Claudio Roditi, and many other credits. The ensemble has commissioned and premiered over sixty new works by living composers to address environmental issues, as well as performed music from the Classical and Jazz literature.
