REPORTS TO:​ Custodial Supervisor


Cleans and maintains offices, galleries, bookstore, café, restrooms, storage spaces and all other areas in the Brandywine Museum of Art and other buildings as assigned.


This position requires interaction with various staff members across multiple departments.  It frequently requires quick responses to service requests.


  1. Cleaning, mopping, waxing, dusting, vacuuming and other maintenance as needed.
  2. Set up and take down of special events and meetings in partnership with the Events Department
  3. ​Assists during floods, snow removal and other emergencies.  Considered essential personnel for emergency response.​
  4. This is an hourly non-exempt position with a 5-day work week (Monday through Friday) based on a minimum 35-hour work week. 


  1. Must be available to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, snow days and emergency situations.
  2. Must be able to lift at least 60 lbs.
  3. Must be able to operate floor cleaning equipment, including a buffer.
  4. ​Must be able to push a mop or broom and use hand tools as needed.
  5. Must be able to climb at least five flights of stairs.
  6. Must be able to safely climb a ladder, bend and kneel.
  7. Must be able to manage their time effectively and devote resources as necessary to perform duties.​
  8. Must have available transportation to and from the workplace and to other sites as may be necessary. 

​SALARY RANGE: $16.83-$17.89​
