POSITION TITLE: Security Associate: Full Time Position

REPORTS TO: Security Manager, Security Supervisor

BASIC FUNCTION: Security associates are responsible for the security and safety of property and visitors and staff personnel. Security associates also know and implement security procedures and provide several other customer service duties at the Brandywine Conservancy and Museum of Art (BCMA).

POSITION RELATIONSHIPS: In addition to maintaining a good rapport with all Conservancy and Museum personnel, security associates must meet and interact with the public visiting the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art (BCMA) and do so in a manner consistent with good public relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Protects the BCMA against loss, damage or theft of assets.
2. Provides a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors and volunteers on BCMA properties.
3. Performs regular interior and exterior patrols of specified campus properties.
4. Responds to emergencies in accordance with circumstances and established standard operating procedures.
5. Wears company‑provided uniform while the Museum is open to the public.
6. Monitors security systems, alarms, and surveillance equipment.
7. Reports incident, hazards, or suspicious activity promptly and accurately. Completes incident reports as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Able to interact in a professional manner with public and other employees regarding issues of safety, security, maintenance, deliveries, etc.
2. Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner.
3. Ability to work special events (normally between 4-9pm) and emergency situations as needed or as scheduled.
4. Ability to stand for at least three hours at a time.
5. Able to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, this includes the ability to complete company provided training and perform First Aid/CPR/AED and use of fire extinguishers.
6.  Able to stand and walk on various surfaces for long periods of time in various temperatures and weather conditions.
7. Ability to undergo a background investigation with no adverse record.
8. Ability to operate security equipment including computer, camera surveillance system.
9.  Available to work first, second or third shift.
10.  Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
11. Must have a valid driver’s license.

STARTING SALARY: $17.00, 5% differential paid for 3rd shift work.
