Penguin Court Star Party [Laughlintown, PA]

Penguin Court is thrilled to host members of the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh (3AP) on Friday, August 7, 2026. At 8:30 p.m., 3AP volunteers will lead a presentation about the use of binoculars in astronomy, and then we’ll observe featured celestial targets until 11:30 p.m.

T'ai Chi Chih at the Brandywine

T'ai Chi Chih is a mindful, moving meditation. April Leffler will lead attendees in 19 slow moving, meditative movements. T'ai Chi Chih is a wonderful way to center and balance oneself. Plein Air Evening at Kuerner Farm

Get special access to Kuerner Farm, a National Historic Landmark, where Andrew Wyeth found intriguing subjects for hundreds of tempera paintings, watercolors, and drawings for more than 70 years. Artists working in all media are invited to explore the property where they can sketch, paint, or photograph the iconic setting. One of Brandywine's knowledgeable interpreters will be available throughout the event to answer questions and provide insight into Wyeth's creative process.

Beauty in Blooms: A Nature Journaling Activity [Laughlintown, PA]

Have you ever looked closely at a flower? Studied how its petals lie against each other? Notice the hairs or lack of them on its stem? Observed pollinator interactions with these blooms? In this hands-on workshop, local artist, Stacey Pydynkowski, will guide you through easy, approachable techniques for sketching flowers as you gather inspiration from your surroundings and watch the sun set and full moon rise at Penguin Court. Perfection is certainly not required! Just curiosity, pencil lines, and a love of nature. Enjoy the calm, mindful practices of nature journaling.
