Part-time Security Guard

BASIC FUNCTION:
Security guards are responsible for performing routine security procedures and other duties at the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art. They also provide emergency services when required and consider public safety matters.

REPORTS TO:    
Security Manager

POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
In addition to maintaining a good rapport with all Conservancy and Museum personnel, security officers must meet and aid the public visiting the Conservancy and Museum and do so in a manner consistent with good public relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  1. Protect the Conservancy and the Museum against loss or damage to all assets. 
  2. Perform regular interior and exterior patrols of all facilities. 
  3. Provide a safe environment for staff and visitors on Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art properties.
  4. Follow all standard operating security procedures as assigned.
  5. Provide emergency services as required by circumstances or by standard operating procedures.
  6. Responsible for wearing the uniform as specified by the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Able to interact in a professional manner with public and other employees regarding issues of safety, security, maintenance, deliveries, etc. 
  2. Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner.
  3. Able to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently: contact emergency services; EMT, Fire Dept, Police Dept. This includes the ability to perform first aid/CPR and use a fire extinguisher. Training will be provided.
  4. Must be willing and able to work all assigned shifts, including holidays, weekends, nights, special evening events and emergency situations as needed. This includes the ability to work at least 4 weekend days or nights and 2 events per month.
  5. Able to stand and walk on various surfaces for long periods of time in various temperatures and weather conditions.
  6. Available and reliable transportation to and from the workplace.
  7. As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. 
  8. Monitor, operate and reset related equipment such as; telephones, security cameras, facility equipment, computer systems and alarms.
  9. Able to carry and lift up to 30 pounds.
  10. Must have a valid driver’s license.

    
JOB TYPE:    
Part-time (20-29 hours per week)
    

SALARY/HOURLY RATE:    
$14/hour, bi-weekly
