Summer Internships: Development and Nonprofit Administration & Governance

Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art

Internships

This summer, Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art is seeking undergraduate or graduate students with an interest in the arts and cultural sector. Interns will gain an in-depth understanding of specific areas of museum work by participating in departmental activities and projects under the supervision of mentoring staff. Through practical training, hands-on projects, off-site field trips, and networking opportunities, interns will prepare for careers in arts administration, fundraising, and non-profit organizations.

All employment and internship decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, protected veteran status, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.

As an environmental and cultural leader, Brandywine is committed to fostering an engaging and welcoming workplace that reflects a broad range of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. Non-Profit Administration & Governance Intern

The Executive Office serves as Brandywine’s administrative and strategic center, comprised of the Executive Director & CEO and key support staff. This internship provides the opportunity to assist the Executive Office with recordkeeping, data entry, and inventory and storage projects. A primary goal this summer will be to build out the organization’s newly implemented board portal, including organizing and digitizing documents related to Brandywine’s Board of Trustees and seven Standing Committees. This experience offers insights into non-profit governance work, enabling broad exposure to nearly every facet of the organization. While ideal for undergraduate or graduate students interested in pursuing a career in the arts or non-profit administration, candidates from a broad range of disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Development Intern

The Development Office intern will support fundraising and donor engagement efforts while gaining hands-on experience in advancement operations. Responsibilities typically include assisting with foundation and corporate reach, donor research, maintaining and updating the donor database, preparing acknowledgment letters and event materials, supporting fundraising campaigns, and helping to assist with special events. The internship offers exposure to key aspects of nonprofit development—such as stewardship, communications, and grant support—while building skills in organization, writing, and relationship management in a mission-driven environment.
