Behind the Scenes of Every Leaf & Twig: Andrew Wyeth's Botanical Imagination

Join us for an insider’s look at the new exhibition, Every Leaf & Twig: Andrew Wyeth’s Botanical Imagination with Dr. William L. Coleman, the exhibition’s curator and Director of the Andrew & Betsy Wyeth Study Center. Discover Wyeth’s intense focus on the fragile rhythms and intimate dramas of plant life, developed as part of his essential painting practice which included time spent alone outdoors. Coleman will discuss the exhibition’s 40 watercolors and drawings, most of which have not been on public view before, and the archival discoveries that shaped it.

Every Leaf & Twig is an exhibition in two parts. Brandywine Museum of Art’s version, on view through September 15, 2024, features examples of Wyeth’s work from Pennsylvania and follows a presentation of related Maine works at the Farnsworth Art Museum. It was conceived by Amy Morey, Associate Collection Manager of the Andrew & Betsy Wyeth Study Center (Maine), with support from Dr. William L. Coleman, Wyeth Foundation Curator, and the staff of the Wyeth Study Center.
