Creative Escape: Painting with Native Plants

Creative Escape: Painting with Native Plants

Embark on a journey to learn more about native plants and pigments with Native Roots Farm Foundation (NRFF) in this evening workshop! NRFF is a Native (Nanticoke) woman-led organization, founded with a mission to celebrate Indigenous cultures and protect open spaces. Get inspired by botanical prints in our galleries and learn more about the relationships that Indigenous people of this area have had with native plants. Teaching artist Courtney Streett will share Indigenous ecological knowledge and the cultural importance of selected native plants, then will lead painting exercises with botanical inks made from the highlighted plants.

All materials will be provided, and no experience is necessary. Light snacks will be available and BYOB is encouraged.

The museum galleries will open at 5:30. At 6:00 pm there will be a brief art discussion in one of our galleries for inspiration, followed by the workshop beginning at 6:15 pm.
