Museum Explorers: Family Program

Explore the Brandywine Museum of Art this summer through weekly adventures for families. Each Thursday morning from July 10th through July 31st, discover new treasures in art and nature on scavenger hunts through the galleries. Also, enjoy live demonstrations by local artists and creative art projects to make and take home.  

Participate in one or all four programs designed for children ages 3 to 10 accompanied by an adult.  Registration is encouraged for this drop-in event. Come between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to participate.

Cost: $6 per person (adults and children ages 3 and up), free for Brandywine members and children 2 and younger.  Cost includes Museum admission.

    Words of Art- July 10th
    Discover the joy of words paired with art, in the special exhibition, This Earthen Door: Nature as Muse and Material. Afterwards, “Dream Poet for Hire” Marshall James Kavanaugh will write a unique poem for each participant to illustrate inspired by themes in the exhibition.

    Fantastic Florals- July 17th
    Explore seasonal landscapes and nature studies in the galleries and experience illustrator Patricia Kreiser’s live drawing demonstration before creating your own imaginary floral collage.
       
    Colorful Collection - July 24th
    Journey through the galleries to find works of art filled with color and learn techniques for mixing colors with artist Gary Giordano before creating your own vibrant work of art.
       
    Animal Habitats– July 31st
    Search for painted animals and their habitats throughout the Museum and help artist Gene Barretta imagine silly animal mashups. Next, construct a tiny home for a made-up critter.
