Poetry & Film Night with NIA JUNE

Poetry & Film Night with NIA JUNE

Join us for an evening of spoken word, short films, and conversation as we celebrate the final week of the special exhibition, Jerrell Gibbs: No Solace in the Shade. Poet, filmmaker, and writer NIA JUNE will share a selection of her community-based filmography, featuring A Black Girl’s Country, Keep What You Sow: Homegrown Industries of Baltimore, and The Unveiling of God / a love letter to my forefathers along with her poetry series Sounds of Color: Recorded Memories, inspired by Gibbs’ Salvador paintings.

The exhibition curator, Angela Carroll, will be moderating a conversation and Q&A between Jerrell Gibbs, NIA JUNE, and APoetNamedNate, the creative director and music producer for two of the featured films. Following the program, there will be a wine and cheese reception along with the third-floor galleries open for viewing.
