Wyeth Conversations: Joyce Hill Stoner

Dr. Joyce Hill Stoner is a legendary figure in the field of art conservation who has remarkable insight into the working methods of Andrew Wyeth from collaborating directly with the artist over many years. As Edward F. and Elizabeth Goodman Rosenberg Professor of Material Culture and Director of the Preservation Studies Doctoral Program at the University of Delaware, she has impacted generations of conservators and curators. Across dozens of scholarly publications, countless high stakes conservation projects that brought back fragile masterpieces from the brink, curating exhibitions herself, and even playwrighting, she has had a fascinating journey rich with stories that she’ll share in this dialogue.  

"Wyeth Conversations" is an ongoing series of dialogues with expert insiders who have unique perspectives on the making and afterlives of Andrew Wyeth’s work. Hosted by Dr. William L. Coleman, the Brandywine’s Wyeth Foundation Curator and Director of the Andrew & Betsy Wyeth Study Center, these events invite the public into the ongoing work of research and stewardship of one of the most important creative legacies in American art.
