Activities for the day:
Fishing
10:00am-2:00pm
Come out to learn about fishing in a pond, lake and other bodies of water in our region with Legacy, Land and Water Partners/Mid Atlantic Youth Anglers & Outdoors Partners. They will have all the equipment available to use along with live bait and soft plastic artificial lures. There will also be a land-based dry casting area set up in the grass areas to learn how to cast and practice getting close to where fish are in water. If you're an experienced angler, come out and share your tips with everyone!
Hands-on Pond Water Testing
10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Step into the role of an environmental scientist as Brandywine Conservancy staff guide you through hands-on water quality testing at the pond. Learn how to measure key parameters and uncover what they reveal about the pond’s overall health.
Creekside Walks
Join Clarke Green (author of cagksq) for a 20-30 minute guided walk along the Red Clay Creek in Anson B. Nixon Park, exploring centuries of change from wetlands to milldams to modern restoration. Discover how native plants, flowing water, and community action are bringing this living stream back to health.
These walks will be offered at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30p.m.
Bilingual Storybook Walk
Come and read the book Tree Hugs with Kennett Library and then do a fun sensory hands-on discovery!
This guided activity will be offered at 11:00am and 1:00pm. Participants are welcome to read on their own during the rest of the event.

• The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary (PDE), host of the Delaware Estuary Program, leads collaborative science-based efforts to improve the Delaware River and Bay. Freshwater mussels are an integral part of the river ecosystem, so PDE is raising mussels in ponds to help restore these vital species. Stop by our table to learn about their fascinating life cycle and the ecosystem services they provide through interactive activities.
• Penn State Extension Master Watershed Stewards of Chester and Delaware Counties (MWS) is a volunteer-based program established to educate and empower volunteers to protect environmental resources. They work with the community to improve the health of our streams, rivers and other natural resources. The program is open to people of all skills and abilities and promotes protecting natural resources outside the home. MWS offers customized programs, where you’ll learn from experts on how to deliver projects and programs in your community.
