Measuring Timber Stands

Measuring Timber Stands

Forest mensuration is the science of measuring timber stands to estimate growth and yields.

As a follow-up to the winter tree identification workshop in November, DCNR Forester, Michael Doucette, will lead a forest mensuration class at Penguin Court in Laughlintown, PA.

During this hands-on workshop, participants will learn to use a prism, biltmore stick, and d-tape to calculate the board foot volume and economic value of a tree, which is important especially for woodlot and forest landowners.

This workshop will be held outdoors, so please dress for the weather.

This is a "Pay What You Wish" program with proceeds benefiting Penguin Court. Thank you for considering a donation!
