Plein Air Day at Brandywine’s Historic Campus

Plein Air Day at Brandywine’s Historic Campus

Artists working in all media are invited to a unique opportunity to sketch, paint, or photograph Brandywine's historic campus buildings and surrounding native plant gardens.

The day will begin with an introduction to the history, architectural styles, and previous use of four mixed-use buildings on Brandywine's campus, which were substantially damaged by historic flooding from Hurricane Ida in September 2021. Due to the damages sustained, these four buildings are slated for future demolition. This plein air program invites participating artists to help us further commemorate and document these historic structures while they are still standing.

A Brandywine staff member will be available for the duration of the program to answer additional questions. For more information, contact Julia Steiner at 610-388-8354 or [email protected]. Please hold Monday, April 20th as an inclement weather date if the program needs to be rescheduled.
