"A Spicing of Birds: Poems by Emily Dickinson" [Laughlintown, PA]

Penguin Court's Book Club will discuss A Spicing of Birds: Poems by Emily Dickinson which is a beautifully illustrated anthology that showcases 37 of Dickinson's poems that feature birds common to New England. The editors of this book highlight Dickinson's love of birds and detail the development and growth of birding in the 19th century, while pairing Dickinson's poems with paintings and engravings by artists including Mark Catesby and Alexander Wilson.
Please bring a lawn or camp chair with you, as we'll meet outdoors (weather permitting) so we can enjoy the season and to do a little birding. Please bring binoculars or borrow a pair of ours. We'll introduce you to Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Merlin app. If time permits, we'll do a little nature journaling or create cyanotype prints, too!
PLEASE NOTE: Penguin Court Preserve is located in Western Pennsylvania. The address is 314 Penguin Court, Laughlintown, PA. Directions and access instructions will be provided up registration.
