Join founder and director of Dunya Performing Arts Company, Jeannine Osayande, for a creative and rhythmic evening inspired by the powerful works of “Jerrell Gibbs: No Solace in the Shade.” Get ready to groove in this workshop and connect through synchronized moves, soulful music, haiku poetry, and fun social bonding to create your own Friendship Choreo-Poem. Participants will learn dance traditions like Sanko, Flex, Lights Camera Action, and Blow the Whistle, and further explore how rhythm can be used when working with communities.

Sensory-Friendly Evening: Brandywine Railroad

Individuals on the autism spectrum or with a sensory processing disorder and their families are invited to join us for after-hours access to the Museum’s Brandywine Railroad, a holiday favorite featuring trains running on 2,000 feet of track with more than 1,000 pieces.

Stories in Focus: A Photo-Inspired Journey

Inspired by the exhibition, Jerrell Gibbs: No Solace in the Shade, this workshop is led by nationally acclaimed storyteller and musician TAHIRA, whose work amplifies voices and histories often left unheard. Community members are invited to bring a personal or family photograph as an entry point into exploring Gibbs’s themes of memory, belonging, and representation.

T'ai Chi Chih at the Brandywine

T'ai Chi Chih is a mindful, moving meditation. April Leffler will lead attendees in 19 slow moving, meditative movements. T'ai Chi Chih is a wonderful way to center and balance oneself. No special clothing or equipment is required. Classes will be held in the Waterview Room on the 2nd Floor of the Brandywine Museum of Art.
