Land Conservation & Conservation Easements

Land Conservation & Conservation Easements

Land conservation begins with conversation.

A conservation easement is a legal agreement between a landowner and a conservation organization or government that protects open space, natural and water resources, agricultural lands and historic sites in perpetuity.

  • We work with landowners, farmers, and municipal open space programs to learn their goals for preserving their property. We then research and evaluate the land and its natural, cultural, and scenic resources. Next, we compose a detailed proposal for preserving the property, typically through a conservation easement and ongoing stewardship.
  • We have extensive experience working on the broadest array of conservation easements, including private land, working farms, sensitive natural areas, scenic landscapes, and historic sites and structures.
