Brandywine Battlefield Heritage Interpretation & Connectivity Plan

Welcome to the website for the Brandywine Battlefield Heritage Interpretation Plan. The Plan will focus on interpreting the Battle of Brandywine across two counties and seven municipalities in Southeastern Pennsylvania. This inter-municipal plan will identify opportunities to highlight key places in the eastern portion of the Brandywine Battlefield area, in the following partner communities:

  • Birmingham Township, Chester County
  • Chadds Ford Township, Delaware County
  • East Bradford Township, Chester County
  • Kennett Township, Chester County
  • Pennsbury Township, Chester County
  • Thornbury Township, Chester County
  • Westtown Township, Chester County

The project was completed in 2022 and will help advance the implementation of Chester County Planning Commission’s Brandywine Battlefield Preservation Plan and associated Landscapes Plans. This project will conceptualize three new Heritage Centers and a network of smaller-scale interpretive sites, to help continue efforts to tell the story of the Battle of Brandywine and the rich heritage of this region.
